- Untuk pilih untuk tidak makan buah yang dilarang untuk dimakan, ialah untuk memilih kehidupan
Gen 3:4 And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
Gen 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
- Adam dan Hawa gagal ujian mereka di taman Eden
- Mereka menggunakan hak memilih mereka untuk memilih anjuran Setan
- Mereka memilih kematian
Adam and Eve were placed upon probation in the garden of Eden, and they were to prove their loyalty to their Creator by obedience to his law of love; but they fell, through the temptation of a wily foe. {ST November 24, 1887, par. 8}

You can make yourself what you choose. PROBATION BY THE BLOOD
Joh 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
Rev 13:8 And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.
Joh 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Joh 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
- Bapa memberikan Anak-Nya untuk mati menggantikan kematian Adam dan Hawa yang sepatutnya mati
- Dengan memberikan Anak-Nya, Adam dan Hawa dan seluruh keturunannya diberikan kesempatan lagi (another probation) untuk menggunakan hak pilih mereka untuk memilih menurut firman Tuhan
ANOTHER CHANCE TO OBEY
A great and infinite sacrifice has been made, that man may have another trial. God provides that man may have another probation, and his efforts to keep the law are made acceptable through Christ. “God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” {ST November 24, 1887, par. 8}
God, in giving his only begotten Son to die on Calvary’s cross, has made it possible for all men to be saved. Christ died for a ruined world, and through the merit of Christ, God has elected that man should have a second trial, a second probation, a second test as to whether he will keep the commandments of God, or walk in the path of transgression, as did Adam. Through an infinite sacrifice, God has made it possible that men shall practise holiness in this life. Those who would ascertain their election for the future life, may ascertain it by their attitude of obedience to the commandments of God. Strong emotions, strong impulses, or desires, for heaven, when listening to a description of the charms of a future life, will not prove that you are elected to sit down with Jesus Christ upon his throne. If you would know the mystery of godliness, you should follow that which has been revealed. The conditions of eternal life have been plainly stated. Jesus says: “If ye love me, keep my commandments. {RH September 28, 1897, par. 4}
- Kesempatan kedua (second probation) ini diberikan agar manusia dengan hak memilih mereka diberikan kesempatan untuk memilih yang benar
- Tujuan kesempatan kedua (second probation) adalah untuk Adam dan Hawa menurut setiap firman yang keluar dari mulut Tuhan
- Kematian Kristus telah membuka pintu kesempatan untuk manusia memilih untuk menurut hukum-Nya berdasarkan pertolongan Tuhan
- Kemampuan untuk menurut adalah kemampuannya Tuhan
- Bagian manusia ialah memilih untuk percaya (bedasarkan hak memilih)
Should God save men in disobedience, after granting them a second probation, putting them to the test in this life, they would fail to regard his authority in the future life. Those who are disloyal to Christ in this world would be disloyal to him in the world to come, and would create a second rebellion in heaven. Men have the history of Adam’s disobedience and fall before them, and because of this they should be warned against venturing to transgress the law of God. Jesus Christ has died in order that all men may have a chance to make their calling and election sure; but the standard of righteousness in this gospel age is no less than it was in the days of Adam, and heaven will be the reward of obedience. {RH September 28, 1897, par. 5}
- Jikalau Tuhan izinkan mereka yang melanggar didalam masa kesempatan kedua (second probation) ini, merekah akan memberontak lagi di surga nanti.
- Standard untuk memperolah kehidupan kekal sekarang di probation kedua tidak ada bedanya dengan standard kehidupan kekal di probation pertama di taman Eden.
- Surga adalah upah bagi mereka, yang dimasa probation kedua ini, menurut hukum-Nya, walaupun konsekuensi penurutannya adalah kematian sekalipun
A sincere Christian will not advance his plans in this direction without the knowledge that God approves his course. He will not want to choose for himself, but will feel that God must choose for him. We are not to please ourselves, for Christ pleased not Himself. {RH September 25, 1888, par. 12}
ALWAYS CHOOSE TO OBEY GOD
Rev 13:16 And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads:
Rev 13:17 And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
Rev 13:15 And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed.
- Waktu sudah sangat dekat dimana setiap manusia dibumi ini akan mengungkapkan pengakuan iman mereka disaat kehidupan probation kedua mereka akan terancam mati dengan tidak bisa jual atau beli kecuali mereka menyangkan firman Tuhan demi mereka bisa jual atau beli
- Untuk tidak bisa jual atau beli adalah untuk tidak bisa makan atau minum didalam probation kedua ini
- Sebagaimana Adam dan Hawa diuji iman mereka, seluruh manusia dibumi ini juga akan melewati ujian yang sama, dan hasil pilihan masing-masing lah yang menentukan apakah mereka memperolah kehidupan kekal atau kebinasaan kekal
Mat 6:25 Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment?
Mat 6:31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
Mat 6:32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things.
Mat 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things (food, water, clothing) shall be added unto you.
- Jangan kuatir dengan kelaparan, karna Bapa mengetahui kebutuhan makhluk ciptaan-Nya
- Probation ini diberikan untuk memilih yang benar walaupun hasilnya kelaparan, kehausan, kedinginan sekalipun
- Jangan lupa, pilihan adalah hak asasi manusia yang diberikan Tuhan kepada setiap manusia
- Kristus mengalami kelaparan 40 hari untuk menjadi contoh pilihan kita dimasa probation kita
Mat 4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.
Mat 4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.
Mat 4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
The Saviour now practiced the lesson He had taught to Israel. By the word of God succor had been given to the Hebrew host, and by the same word it would be given to Jesus. He awaited God’s time to bring relief. He was in the wilderness in obedience to God, and He would not obtain food by following the suggestions of Satan. In the presence of the witnessing universe, He testified that it is a less calamity to suffer whatever may befall than to depart in any manner from the will of God. {Desire of Ages, p. 121, para. 1}
- Bencana yang terbesar bukanlah untuk menderita apapun karna tidak mau melanggar hukum Tuhan, melainkan untuk tidak hidup sesuai dengan kehendak Bapa disurga
“Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.” Often the follower of Christ is brought where he cannot serve God and carry forward his worldly enterprises. Perhaps it appears that obedience to some plain requirement of God will cut off his means of support. Satan would make him believe that he must sacrifice his conscientious convictions. But the only thing in our world upon which we can rely is the word of God. “Seek ye first the kingdom of God, and His righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” Matthew 6:33. Even in this life it is not for our good to depart from the will of our Father in heaven. When we learn the power of His word, we shall not follow the suggestions of Satan in order to obtain food or to save our lives. Our only questions will be, What is God’s command? and what His promise? Knowing these, we shall obey the one, and trust the other. {Desire of Ages, p. 121, para. 2}

In the last great conflict of the controversy with Satan those who are loyal to God will see every earthly support cut off. Because they refuse to break His law in obedience to earthly powers, they will be forbidden to buy or sell. It will finally be decreed that they shall be put to death. See Revelation 13:11-17. But to the obedient is given the promise, “He shall dwell on high: his place of defense shall be the munitions of rocks: bread shall be given him; his waters shall be sure.” Isaiah 33:16. By this promise the children of God will live. When the earth shall be wasted with famine, they shall be fed. {Desire of Ages, p. 121, para. 3}
- Bagi yang tetap setia kepada Tuhan, semua kebutuhan di dunia ini akan dihentikan, namun Tuhan tidak pernah melupakan mereka

Of all the lessons to be learned from our Lord’s first great temptation none is more important than that bearing upon the control of the appetites and passions. In all ages, temptations appealing to the physical nature have been most effectual in corrupting and degrading mankind. Through intemperance, Satan works to destroy the mental and moral powers that God gave to man as a priceless endowment. Thus it becomes impossible for men to appreciate things of eternal worth. Through sensual indulgence, Satan seeks to blot from the soul every trace of likeness to God. {Desire of Ages, p. 122, para. 1}
- Melalui nafsu makan dan nafsu keinginan daging Setan berhasil untuk merusak moral manusia
- Walaupun dia mengetahui apa yang benar, namun kemampuan untuk memilih yang benar sudah sangat dirusak oleh pemanjaan keinginan dagingnya, sehingga pilihannya senantiasa yang bertentangan dengan kehendah Bapa disurga
Deu 8:3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.
- Tuhan sengaja untuk umat Israel kelaparan di padang belantara agar mereka mengetahui bahwa yang menghiupkan manusia bukan hanya roti jasmani saja, setiap firman yang keluar dari mulut-Nya
- Jangan lupa! Kehidupan ini adalah ujian untuk menguji kesetiaan kita terhadap firman-Nya
- Makanan dan minuman akan ditambahkan; tetapi ujiannya adalah apakah manusia setia kepada setiap perkataan-Nya, bukan makanan dan minuman jasmani
Job 23:12 Neither have I gone back from the commandment of his lips; I have esteemed the words of his mouth more than my necessary food.
Mat 10:28 And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.
Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.
THE RIGHT TO CHOOSE

- Hak memilih adalah has asasi setiap manusia di bumi ini; hak itu diberikan Tuhan kepada manusia yang Dia ciptakan
- Setan membuat seakan-akan situasi kondisi yang menentukan pilihan kita, sementara pilihan kita tergantung dari yang benar atau yang salah, bukan situasi kondisi
- Situasi dan kondisi tidak merubah yang benar menjadi yang salah
- Benar itu tetap benar sekalipun situasi dan kondisi berubah
The tempted one needs to understand the true force of the will. This is the governing power in the nature of man—the power of decision, of choice. Everything depends on the right action of the will. Desires for goodness and purity are right, so far as they go; but if we stop here, they avail nothing. Many will go down to ruin while hoping and desiring to overcome their evil propensities. They do not yield the will to God. They do not choose to serve Him. Ministry of Healing, p. 176, par. 1
- Banyak orang berharap dan berkeinginan untuk menaklukan kelemahan-kelemahan daging mereka, namun mereka tidak pernah menyerahkan kehendak mereka kepada Tuhan.
- Mereka tidak pernak menggunakan hak pilih mereka untuk memilih kuasa Tuhan untuk menaklukan kelemahan-kelemahan mereka
- Mereka berusaha dengan kekuatan mereka sendiri untuk menang; dan itulah sebabnya mereka selalu gagal
God has given us the power of choice; it is ours to exercise. We cannot change our hearts, we cannot control our thoughts, our impulses, our affections. We cannot make ourselves pure, fit for God’s service. But we can choose to serve God, we can give Him our will; then He will work in us to will and to do according to His good pleasure. Thus our whole nature will be brought under the control of Christ. Ministry of Healing, p. 176, par. 2
- Karna manusia tidak bisa menghasilkan perubahan didalam kehidupannya, itulah sebabnya dia perlu untuk serahkan kehidupannya kepada Tuhan, sehingga Tuhan-lah yang bekerja dengan kuasa penciptaan dan penyelamatanNya untuk menghasilkan perubahan dalam kehidupannya
- Tetapi Tuhan tidak akan bekerja tanap manusia memilih untuk Dia bekerja
- Bagian manusia ialah untuk memilih; Tuhanlah yang bekerja
- Dengan menggunakan hak memilih untuk memilih Tuhan, dan menyerakan kehendak saya kepada Tuhan, maka akan terjadi perubahan didalam kehidupan saya
- Saya disatukan dengan kuasa Tuhan; dengan kuasa itu, saya gunakan untuk tidak memenuhi keinginan daging saya
- Kuasa itu adalah kuasa Tuhan yang bekerja didalam saya
- Banyak orang akan hilang bukan karna mereka tidak menginginkan kekudusan ataupun yang baik
- Keinginan itu semua tidak ada salahnya
- Tetapi, tidak cukup hanya untuk menginginkan yang benar, baik, dan kudus
- Kita harus memilih untuk menjadi yang benar, baik, dan kudus
- Tuhan-lah yang bekerja untuk menjadikan saya benar, baik, dan kudus
- Jadi, banyak orang akan hilang, walaupun mereka tidak mau hilang, karna mereka tidak pernah memilih untuk memberikan kehendak mereka kepada Kristus, agar Dialah yang akan bekerja untuk menyelamatkan mereka
